Crumvoice - For Children
One day workshops & residencies for KS1 and KS2:

Drumvoice - African Drumming Experience
In highly practical sessions, children learn how to play drums together as a band. The artists bring an exciting range of instruments, including djembes, djun djun, talking drums, and a variety of hand held percussion. Children have hands on tuition, learning basic techniques, traditional rhythms and songs.

Sessions include:

Drumvoice Techniques of playing
Drumvoice Traditional rhythms
Drumvoice Call & response sequences
Drumvoice Conducting and arranging

Although it can be highly complex, African drumming is also very accessible. This means that children can enjoy the benefits of feeling successful quickly, whilst learning some of the fundamentals of music – including playing as a team!

‘Sarah inspires maximum musical development in those she teaches. Her results are always outstanding.’ Chris O’Malley, Music co-ordinator, Yardley Primary School, Birmingham.

Drumvoice - Drumming & Big Sing Celebration
One-day intensive workshops, aimed at upper primary, exploring the wonderful combination of drum and voice. Up to ninety children learn songs from across Africa, in languages such as Zulu and Congolese.

Another group takes the role of the drumming band, learning traditional rhythms and how to accompany the singers. The day culminates in a musical extravaganza performed to the rest of the school, guaranteed to delight all!

Drumvoice - Drumming & Dance
Drumvoice also offer dance workshops to complement the drumming. You might be interested in booking taster sessions, or longer programmes in which children can learn particular choreographed dances representing African and Caribbean life and stories.
